TOM KURA

Tom is the co-founder and owner of Your Love In Lights, a marquee letter rental company based in Needham, MA that supports social and corporate events across New England. He started the business with his wife Helen in 2015, opening a third act in a career that began in manufacturing and international business management and later in management consulting. He designs and builds all of the company’s products and loves the freedom and sense of ownership that comes with running his own business. Tom joined ILEA in 2016 and credits the relationships built there as keys to the early success of his business and his own learning and growth as a participant in the live events industry. This is Tom's fourth year on the board.

RENEE SABO

Renée is the owner and lead wedding consultant of Urban Soirée, which provides full-service wedding planning to couples in the New England area and beyond. Her heart beats for intimate, ethereal, and timeless celebrations. Her career within the Boston event industry includes working with two luxury wedding planning firms in the New England area, in addition to her roles as a Catering Sales Manager at the Hyatt Regency Boston and Social Catering Manager at the New England Aqua
rium. In addition to Urban Soirée, Renée has a passion for educating aspiring wedding professionals and cultivating community within our industry. When she’s not working with brides and grooms-to-be, you can find Renée on her podcast, The Confetti Hour hosting candid conversations with the most inspiring guests, or at Everyday Creative offering educational support to fellow small business creatives

BLAIR ALLEN MITCHAM

Blair worked in several facets of the events industry prior to and while enrolled in event planning certification courses in September of 2014 and simultaneously joined the Boston chapter of the International Live Events Association (ILEA). ILEA Boston provided that event professional's frame of mind and polishing she sought to take that extra step in formally establishing BAM Events in 2015. Over several years as an active ILEA Boston member Blair served on several chapter positions and international committees and is also a Past President of ILEA Boston during 2019-2020. Blair's ultra-personal client and vendor relationships have proven successful and appreciated and has resulted in BAM Events being retained by her industry peer professionals for guidance.

Matthew Regan

Matthew Regan is the Events and Conferences Manager for the Questrom School of Business at Boston University.  Matthew graduated from Roger Williams University in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Security Assurance Studies. During his time at RWU, Matthew discovered his passion for event planning with his work  with the Office of Admissions and the Office of Events and Conferences.  It was in these offices that Matthew forged a career in the events industry and took to heart what it means to bring people together.

Matthew has spent most of his career working in higher education events. He strives to implement policies and procedures that ensure event attendees receive an engaging and consistent experience at events. He works tirelessly to use events to create a strong brand identity. Matthew takes great pride in seeing the joy and excitement that his events bring attendees.

David is the owner of SMP Event Design & Production (Spinner Music Productions). In 2020, David was nominated to serve as Director on the Board of the Massachusetts Live Events Coalition, a grassroots organization and effort to raise the collective voice of the unemployed and underemployed workforce of the Live Events Industry and through programming with MLEC, David's "Empty Wedding" event was nominated for Event Production of the Year for 2020-2021!

This is DJ's second year on the board. First as Vice President of Membership and for the 2021-2022 chapter year he serves as Vice President of Communications!

Jodi Gold

Jodi is an award winning event planner for Siagel Productions, a Boston based entertainment and full-service event production company. She enthusiastically plans a wide range of social events including Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Weddings and a variety of special events.  Jodi’s attention to detail and complete involvement is evident in her work as she has successfully executed events throughout the New England area.  After 8+ years in the industry, she is happy to tell anyone that she is absolutely doing her dream job! The favorite parts of her work is seeing an event come to life and being able to understand her client’s needs- allowing her to deliver above their expectations. When she is not planning events for Siagel or ILEA, Jodi can be found with an iced coffee, watching reality TV. Going into her third year on the ILEA Boston board, Jodi has fully jumped into the ILEA world both locally & internationally and hopes to share her love for the industry with our membership!

Linda Dostie

Linda Dostie is the Event Sales Manager at Calla Catering and Events LLC.  While she graduated from Plymouth State University in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Art History, it was her experience working for the Walt Disney Company for three years that introduced the hospitality industry to her, and she immediately knew this was her true path.  Linda moved back to New England and was a member of the team at the historic Wentworth By The Sea Country Club in Rye, New Hampshire, and is now bringing events to life in the Greater Boston area at Calla Catering and Events LLC.  Linda is honored to also be a part of the opening team of the Hyla Brook Estate, a modern farmhouse venue located in Derry, New Hampshire!  She is the resident Theme Park Expert on the ILEA Boston Board of Directors, is a Bloody Mary aficionado, and is the mother of the cutest toddler in the world!  Linda is serving her third year on the ILEA Boston Chapter Board as Director-At-Large and as Chair of ILEA Boston’s Student Membership Program.

Michelle Ryder


After graduating with a degree in media communications from Roger Williams University, Michelle began her career as a social media strategist for a Rhode Island floral & event design company and dipped her toes into media relations with networks in Providence and Boston before landing a role in event management at Foxboro's Lakeview Pavilion in 2017.

Michelle's favorite moments of a wedding (her specialty) is the grand reveal to a couple and their reaction to seeing their ballroom design coming to life - but she can also be found in the back dancing and jamming out to any Pitbull song! When asked about her connection with ILEA Michelle said, "I love that ILEA has brought me into the event world with an open mind and continues to teach me more about sectors of the event industry beyond my scope in event venue operations!"

Josh Poirier

Joshua Poirier is an Events Manager at Corinthian Events. He is excited to continue his role for a  second year on the ILEA Boston’s Board of Directors. Josh’s passion for event planning started at a young age, growing up with a large Italian family where every gathering was a production. From passion to a career, Josh has planned a wide range of nonprofit, corporate and social events since becoming a professional in the industry. Josh is always wanting to learn more and jump right into everything he does…always with an up-beat attitude. Josh takes pride in his work and will go to any length to make sure his client is left feeling wowed.

Elena Barbera

Elena started her career in comedy and music at ICM/LA (International Creative Management) before heading up the California coast to join the booking team at Bill Graham Presents in San Francisco (now Live Nation). After a brief hiatus where she worked in creative marketing for various Fortune 500 companies, she’s back to live events. Today she’s in Boston and is leading her boutique talent agency, providing meeting and event planners with incredible speaker and entertainment experiences at their conferences, meetings, and private events. Gail Sparke

At present, I am the band manager for Hot Mess Boston and the Head of the Wedding Department at the Hank Agency. I absolutely LOVE my job, especially connecting with couples, musicians and other vendors from all over the world. Before moving to the US, I was the Special Projects Coordinator for the Daily Mail Ski Magazine and worked on several other publications within the Harmsworth Group. Being a part of ILEA allows me to connect with so many amazing, talented professionals and provides a platform to give back to our creative community.

Laura Jacobs

Laura Jacobs is a part-owner and Director of Business Development at Interstate Rental Service in Jamaica Plain. Founded by her grandfather in 1935 as a jukebox service company, Interstate continues to shape the Greater Boston event and entertainment scene by providing rentals and production services to clients including the Boston Marathon, Live Nation, Harvard University, Dana Farber, the City of Boston and more. Laura oversees marketing, HR, customer service, sales, and strategic planning at Interstate. Before joining the family business, Laura cut her teeth in New York producing events in-house at The New York Times; assisting the planning team at the Plaza Hotel and staffing events for Macy's Northeast Regional division. She then returned home to Boston to be Events Manager at ezCater, where she produced all events for the large tech company, including trade show booths, a multi-city food festival, panel discussion road show and ultimately the company's first conference, CaterUp!. Laura currently serves as Vice President of the American Rental Association of Massachusetts. She is thrilled to join the ILEA Boston board for the first time!
